Jang, Lamarre Claim Titles at NJAC Championships

- 2013 NJAC Championships at the New Balance Track & Field Center -  EVENT CHAMPIONS


New York, N.Y. - Senior Mike Jang (Lynbrook, N.Y.) and junior Alix Lamarre (North Bellmore, N.Y.) claimed titles in the weight throw and long jump, respectively, at the 2013 NJAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday afternoon. The men's team finished in 5th place overall, while the women's team finished in 9th.

Jang captured the 2013 Weight Throw title with a toss of 15.40m (50' 6 1/4") on his second attempt. He finished 1st in the field of 15 competitors. In the Shot Put, he claimed 3rd out of 25 with a distance of 14.08m (46' 2 1/2").

Lamarre, who captured the title in the Long Jump, posted a distance of 6.71m (22' 1/4") on his 6th and final attempt. He topped 15 other jumpers in the event. In the Triple Jump, Al finished in 4th place at 13.12m (43' 1/2").

Sophomore Jonathan Gortman (Dix Hills, N.Y.) earned a 5th place finish in the 60m Hurdles Finals with a time of 9.05.

For the women's team, senior Victoria Mandat (West Babylon, N.Y.) placed 5th in the 60m Hurdles Finals in 9.47. Senior Faustine Chukwuezi (Central Islip, N.Y.) finished in 8th place out of 17 competitors in the Long Jump with a leap of 5.15m (16' 10 3/4").

Sophomore Druscilla Dickson's (Copiague, N.Y.) triple jump distance of 10.34m (33' 11 1/4"), earned her an 8th place finish.

The Rams next will compete in the ECAC Division III Championships, held at the New Balance Track & Field Center on Friday, March 1st and Saturday, March 2nd.
