Third Annual Bill Ward Indoor Meet hosted by St. John's

South Huntington, N.Y. - The men's and women's indoor track teams competed at the Bill Ward Indoor Meet hosted by St. John's at St. Anthony's High School on Thursday, December 6th.
Senior Mike Jang (Lynbrook, N.Y.) qualified for the ECAC's in both the weight throw and shot put. Jang placed first in the weight throw with a toss of 15.58m (51' 1 1/2") and took second in the shot put with a distance of 14.41m (47' 3 1/2").
Senior Steven Renteria (West Babylon, N.Y.) captured the high jump with a leap of 1.88m (6' 2") and freshman Darren Mathurin (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) took first place in the triple jump (12.15m, 39' 10 1/2").
Sophomore Jonathan Gortman (Dix Hills, N.Y.) took second place in both the triple jump (11.82m, 38' 9 1/2") and the 60m hurdles (8.88). Sophomore Joseph Papa (Harrison, N.Y.) placed 7th of 35 in the 200m with a time of 24.20.
The women were led by senior Victoria Mandat (West Babylon, N.Y.) who placed second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.92. Junior Melissa Bonilla (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) took second in the 3000m (12:09.29), joining the FSC All-Time list at #9. Freshman Erin Donovan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) captured fourth in the high jump (1.47m, 4' 9 3/4"), moving into #8 All-Time at FSC.
The Rams next will compete in the NYC Gotham Cup on Friday, January 11th at the New Balance Track and Field Center in New York, N.Y.
