Verderber Leads Rams at CTC Relays

- Verderber qualifies for ECAC and NCAA's in pole vault -


South Huntington, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State indoor track team opened the season on Sunday, December 2nd at the CTC Relays at St. Anthony's High School in South Huntington, N.Y.

The Rams were led by junior Joseph Verderber (Riverhead, N.Y.) who finished first in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.55m (14' 11"). Verderber's mark, which ranks third all-time at FSC, qualified him for the ECAC Championships. His winning performance currently ranks as the best mark in the pole vault event in all of Division III.

Senior Edward Brown IV (Bay Shore, N.Y.) finished second in the weight throw with a distance of 16.70m (54' 9.5") and fifth in the shot put with a toss of 12.60m (41' 4.25").

Sophomore William Frederic (Brooklyn, N.Y.) posted a fourth place finish in the 3000m with a time of 9:43.60.

For the women, junior Melissa Bonilla (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) finished fourth out of 11 competitors in the 1 mile run with a time of 5:44.83.

The Rams next will compete at the St. John's "Bill Ward" Invitational on Thursday, December 6th at St. Anthony's High School.
