Rams Finish 3rd at CTC Championships

The Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track teams competed in the Collegiate Track Conference Championship's on Saturday, February 11th at Stockton College in Pomona, N.J. The Rams finished 3rd in the men's team totals with 85 points, while the women finished tied for 13th place with 22 points.

The men were led in their 3rd place finish by junior Donnell Jones (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and sophomore Alix Lamarre (North Bellmore, N.Y.). Jones took 2nd in the 60 Meters with a time of 7.22 and finished 3rd place in Long Jump (6.38m - 20' 11.25"). Lamarre won the Long Jump with a leap of 6.80m (22' 3.75"). He then took 4th in Triple Jump with a distance of 12.92m (42' 4.75").

Senior Russell Darress (Lynbrook, N.Y.) took 3rd in the 1000 Meters with a time of 2:39.93. Freshman Sean Bonney (Sayville, N.Y.) placed 2nd in the High Jump at 1.88m (6' 2").

The Rams took the top three spots in the Weight Throw.Junior Edward Brown (Bay Shore, N.Y.) took 1st place 17.30m (56' 9.25"). Mike Jang took 2nd place and improved his ECAC qualifying distance (56' 1.25") - moved to #2 on the All-Time list. Freshman Ieshawn Johnson (Queens, N.Y.) rounded out the top 3 at 16.63m (54' 6.75"), he is #4 All-Time.

Jang also took 4th place in the Shot Put (14.01m - 45' 11.75").

The 4x200 Relay of Donnell Jones, Joseph Papa, Frederick Harris, and Nick Bellacosa took 5th place (1:36.31). The 4x800 Relay of Sean Tiernan, Darress, Eddie Lopez, and William Frederic took 4th place (8:25.27).

On the women's side, junior Victoria Mandat (West Babylon, N.Y.) finished in 6th place of 35 runners in the 200 Meters with a time of 27.03, while junior Kathleen Clermont (Uniondale, N.Y.) finished in 7th place with a time of 27.11.

Sophomore Melissa Bonilla (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) ran the 500 Meter in a time of 1:28.01, moving her into 8th place on Farmingdale's All-Time list. Junior Joanna Pavone (West Islip, N.Y.) improved her best in the Pole Vault with a 2.60m Vault (8' 6 1/4").

The women's 4x200 Relay ran an ECAC Qualifying 1:48.66, moving into 3rd place on the All-Time list. The 4x400 Relay finished in 5th with a 4:31.13 time and moved into 8th place on the All-Time list.
