Brown Bests School Record at Long Island Championships

Jamaica, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track team competed in the Long Island Indoor Championship at St. Anthony's High School on Friday, January 20th, hosted by St. John's University. The men's team was highlighted by a new school record in the Weight Throw, while the women improved two ECAC qualifying marks.

Junior Edward Brown IV (Bay Shore, N.Y.) set a new school record with a toss of 57' 5", improving his old record of 17.44m - 57' 2.75" and winning the event by 1.10 meters. Brown is now listed with the 14th best mark in Division III. The Rams took the top 3 spots in the event, with 2nd place going to freshman Ieshawn Johnson (Queens, N.Y.) and 3rd place was junior Mike Jang (Lynbrook, N.Y.).

Sophomore Alix Lamarre (North Bellmore, N.Y.) took 2nd place in the Triple Jump with a 12.82 meter mark (42' 0.75"). He also took 3rd place in the Long Jump at 7.02 meters (23' 0.5"). His mark in the Long Jump is ranked 7th in the country among all Division III.

Freshman Frederick Harris (North Baldwin, N.Y.) jumped an ECAC qualifying 6.80 meters (22' 3.75") as the top rookie in the Long Jump with a 5th place finish. The Rams took the 3rd, 4th and 5th spots in the event out of 15. Lamarre in 3rd and junior Donnell Jones (Brooklyn, N.Y.) took 4th place.

On the All-Time lists, Jones moved to 6th place for the Long Jump. For the Weight Throw, Johnson moved to #3 All-Time and Jang moved to the #4 spot.

For the women, junior Victoria Mandat (West Babylon, N.Y.) improved her ECAC qualifying time at 9.33 in the 60 meter Hurdles. Mandat finished 3rd in the event. Freshman Druscilla Dickson (Copiague, N.Y.) improved her ECAC qualifying mark in the Triple Jump at 36' 9.5" (11.21m) and finished 2nd in the event.

The 4x400 meter Relay team of junior Marjorie Diemicke (North Massapequa, N.Y.), Dickson, freshman Akimmie Parker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and junior Kathleen Clermont (Uniondale, N.Y.) moved to 6th All-Time with a fifth place finish in a time of 4:25.24.

Farmingdale State will compete next on February 3-4 at the New Balance Indoor Games at the New Balance Track and Field Center in New York, N.Y.
