Edward Brown Sets School-Record at Metro Coaches Invitational

New York, N.Y. - Junior Edward Brown IV (Bay Shore, N.Y.) set a school-record with a mark of 17.44m (57' 2 3/4") in the 35lb. weight throw at the Metro Coaches Invitational. Brown's record setting toss qualifies him for the ECAC Championships and is currently the third best throw in Division III this season. He is undefeated in the event so far this year.

Also in the 35lb weight throw, junior Mike Jang (Lynbrook, N.Y.) placed second with a toss of 15.86m (52' 1/2") and freshman Ieshawn Johnson (Queens, N.Y.) took third place with a distance of 15.52m (50' 11"). Jang improved his ECAC mark and moved up to third place on the FSC All-Time List, while Johnson is ranked fifth all-time at Farmingdale State and qualified for the ECAC's.

Sophomore Alix Lamarre (North Bellmore, N.Y.) (6.76m) and junior Donnell Jones (Brooklyn, N.Y.) (6.42m) finished third and fifth, respectively out of 16 competitors in the long jump.

Sophomore Katherine Hoskins (Valley Stream, N.Y.) placed ninth out of 32 in the 60m dash with an ECAC qualifying time of 8.08. Junior Victoria Mandat (West Babylon, N.Y.) qualified for the ECAC's as she finished the 60m hurdles in 9.44. Mandat improved to eighth on the Farmingdale State All-Time List.

Freshman Druscilla Dickson (Copiague, N.Y.) took fourth place in the triple jump with a leap of 10.66m (34' 11 3/4").

The Rams next will compete at the NYC Gotham Cup held at the New Balance Track and Field Center in New York, N.Y. on Friday, January 13th.
