Farmingdale, N.Y. - The men's indoor track team, who were ranked as high as number eight in the nation, had two athletes qualify for the Division III National Championships held in Columbus, Ohio.

Senior Qasim Ellis earned All-American status at the National Championships by placing seventh in the triple jump. Qasim's jump of 47' 4 ½" was his second best jump of the year and 1 ¼" off the school record which he set earlier in the season. Junior Deshaun Thomas qualified for the National Championships at the St. John's Invitational with a 60m dash time of 6.86.

Sophomore Ed Brown set the school record in the 35lb weight throw with a toss of 55' 3" at the ECAC Championships. En route to the Division III National Championships, there were many outstanding team accomplishments. The team captured the championship at the NYU Team Challenge highlighted by first place finishes by John Verderber in the pole vault, Ellis in the triple jump and Donnell Jones in the long jump. The team had five second and four third place finishes at the meet.

The men finished second at the CTC Championships held at Wesleyan University. Jones won the 55m dash, Ellis captured the triple jump and Verderber placed first in the pole vault, defeating his brother John who finished second in the same event. Jones, Joseph Verderber and Ellis were named First Team CTC All-Conference, while John Verderber, Ellis (long jump) and John Roselle (weight throw) received Second Team honors.
