Farmingdale, N.Y. - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has released the first indoor track rankings of the 2011 season. The Farmingdale State men's team is ranked eighth in Division III and fourth in the Atlantic Region. The women's team also entered the Top 25 and is ranked 22nd nationally and ninth in the Atlantic Region. This is the first time in school history a team has been ranked in the Top 10.

The Rams currently have four players qualified in five events at the NCAA Division III National Championship at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. Junior Deshaun Thomas (Jamaica, N.Y./Thomas Edison) has qualified in the 55m with a time of 6.38, which is currently ranked first in the nation. Senior Qasim Ellis (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) has earned a trip to the NCAA's in both the triple jump and long jump. Ellis' jumps of 47' 5 3/4" in the triple jump and 23' 3 1/2" in the long jump are both ranked in the Top 5 nationally. Sophomore Corine Magee (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd) leads the women's team and the country with her 55m time of 7.12. Sophomore Victoria Mandat (West Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) has qualified in the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.50, which is ranked Top 10 in the nation.
