Men Place Fifth at CTC Championships, Nick David Sets School Record

Wesleyan University - Middletown, Conn.
Middletown, Conn. - Sophomore Steven Brown (Wheatley Heights, N.Y./Hills East) and junior Nick David (Mount Sinai, N.Y./Mount Sinai) led the men's team to a fifth place finish at the Collegiate Track Conference Championships with 73.5 points. Third, fourth and fifth place were separated by less than four points. Division II Mansfield State won the meet with 104.40 points, followed by Division I New Jersey Institute of Technology who placed second with a total of 88.75 points.
Brown won the high jump with an ECAC qualifying and personal best jump of 6'4" (1.93m). He also placed seventh in the 55m hurdles in 8:17 (8:05 trials) and ran on the third place 4x400m and fifth place 4x200m relays.
David won the pole vault with a school record jump of 4.72m (15' 5 3/4"). Freshman John Verderber (Aquebogue, N.Y./Riverhead) and sophomore Mike Nguyen (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) placed in a tie for second and tied for sixth respectively in the pole vault. David, Verderber and Nguyen scored 18.5 points for the team.
