Men's Indoor Track Finishes Third at CTC Championships

Routier and Williams defend their CTC Championship Titles


New Haven, Conn. -

Seniors Reggie Routier (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) and Akil Williams defended their CTC Triple Jump and High Jump titles to lead the Farmingdale State men's Indoor Track team to a third place finish on Sunday afternoon at Yale University in New Haven, Conn. The Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) is comprised of 35 Division I, II and III teams.

Reggie improved his National provisional and ECAC qualifying performances with a jump of 14.09m (46' 2 3/4"), taking the Championship once again. The team scored 25 points in the Triple Jump with outstanding 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 8th place finishes in the event. 

Akil jumped 1.90m (6' 2 3/4") to defend his High Jump title and defend his Championship title from last season. 

Junior Naveed Mohammed (Central Islip, N.Y./Central Islip) placed in four events.

4x800m Relay: Brandon Gillis, Mike Leeb, John Bates, Eric Harris, 8th place, 9:15.78

Long Jump: Naveed Mohammed, 3rd place, 6.67m (21' 10 3/4"); Qasim Ellis, 5th place, 6.48m (21' 3 1/4"), Reuben Hairston, 7th place, 6.25m (20' 6 1/4")

Triple Jump: Chris Herbst, 3rd place, 13.41m (44'); Kurt Johns Harris, 4th place, 13.26m (43'6"); Qasim Ellis, 5th place, 12.93m (42' 5 1/4"), Reuben Hairston, 8th place, 12.81m (42' 1/2")

Shot Put: Chris Okolie, 4th place, 13.55m (44' 5 1/2")

35lb Weight Throw: Chris Okolie, 2nd place, 13.85m (45' 5 1/4"); David Casillas, 4th place, 13.57m (44' 6 1/4"); Brandon Dummond, 6th place, 12.60m (41' 4 1/4")

 

The Rams next meet is Friday, February 15th at the Lafayette/Rider Indoor Games held at the New Balance Track & Field Center in New York, N.Y.
