Spears Qualifies for ECAC?s at Season Opener

The Farmingdale State Men’s Indoor Track Team opened their season at the Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) Relays on Sunday, December 5th at Southern Connecticut State University. Freshman Andre Spears (Westbury, NY/Westbury) qualified for the ECAC Championships on March 4-5 by triple jumping 43’ 9 ½” (13.34m). Andre combined with junior Patric Santiago (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin), who jumped 39’ 11 ½”, to place second in the triple jump relay. The Men’s team placed 5th overall.

Other notable results were:

55m Relay: 2nd place finish. Joseph Boaheng (Bronx, NY/Dewitt Clinton) 6.76, and Djimmitry Jean-Louis (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) 7.06.

4x200m Relay: 2nd place finish in 1:36.1. Nyakeh Charley (Mt. Vernon, NY/Arch Bishop Stepinac), Ian Lovergie (Castle Point, NY/Beacon), Reuben Hairston (Freeport, NY/Freeport) and Reggie Routier (Amityville, NY/Freeport).

Long Jump: Matthew Slavin (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park) 20’ 6 ½”, Ian Lovergie (Castle Point, NY/Beacon) 20’ 4 Ύ”, Reuben Hairston (Freeport, NY/Freeport) 20’ 3 ½”.
