FSC Wins Seventh Straight to Clinch First-Round Bye for Skyline Championship

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The FSC men's soccer team captured their seventh straight Skyline Conference victory with a 5-0 win over Sarah Lawrence this afternoon. The Rams close the regular season with a 7-2-2 record (23 points) in the conference and has clinched a first-round bye for the upcoming Skyline Conference Championship.

The Rams (9-5-2) controlled play in the first half as they outshot the Gryphons (5-8-4, 1-6-4 Skyline), 16-1, and registered a pair of goals.

Just under 16 minutes into play, freshman forward Brandon Balcaceres (Farmingdale, N.Y.) converted directly in front of the net off the double assist from senior midfielder Luke Kasulke (Seaford, N.Y.) and freshman forward Tyree Baskin Jr. (Freeport, N.Y.). 

Only 54 seconds later, sophomore midfielder Anthony Bileddo (Carle Place, N.Y.) scored from Kasulke on a give-and-go to put Farmingdale State ahead, 2-0.

Sarah Lawrence registered their first shot on goal just 4:37 into the second half as Simon Kopecky's shot was saved by FSC senior goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellerose, N.Y.).

Farmingdale State increased their lead to three in the 58th minute as senior winger Michael Lanouette (Hamden, CT) recorded his seventh goal of the season from both senior defender Derick Rivera (Levittown, N.Y.) and Balcaceres.

Sophomore forward Guillermo Guardado (Bay Shore, N.Y.) collected the final two goals for the Rams in the 71st and 73rd minutes as the Rams went on for the 5-0 Skyline victory.

Balcaceres (1g, 1a) and Kasulke (3a) registered three points apiece, while Guardado had a career-best four points with his two goals.

Silva notched two saves for Farmingdale State and tallied his sixth shutout in his last seven matches.

FSC has earned a bye for the first-round of the Skyline playoffs and will host the Semifinals next week.
