Senior Day - Seniors with coaches and families

Farmingdale State - 2, Yeshiva - 0

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's soccer team defeated Yeshiva University, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon to improve to 8-5-2 overall and 6-2-2 in Skyline Conference play. The Maccabees fell to 7-2-2 overall and 6-2-2 with the loss.

It was senior day at FSC as Henry Rivera (Hicksville, N.Y.), Derick Rivera (Levittown, N.Y.), Kenny Medina (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Michael Lanouette (Hamden, CT) were each honored prior to the match.

After YU registered the first shot of the game, FSC tallied four straight on goal that were stopped by Yeshiva senior keeper Benjamin Brener.

At the 18:47 mark, the Rams drew a corner kick which was taken by senior midfielder Luke Kasulke (Seaford, N.Y.). His corner sailed right to freshman forward Tyree Baskin Jr. (Freeport, N.Y.) who used a header to score into the top left of the net and put the Rams ahead, 1-0.

Following the goal, Farmingdale State maintained the pressure, taking four more shots in the half, including one by Kasulke that hit the crossbar.

In the second half, the Rams had the only two shots on goal across the first 25 minutes.

With just under 20 minutes remaining, FSC sophomore forward Guillermo Guardado (Bay Shore, N.Y.) subbed into the game and only 3:55 later pressured the Maccabees keeper, stole the ball and scored into an empty net to give the Rams a 2-0 advantage.

Yeshiva had just one shot on goal in the final 11 minutes as Farmingdale State earned the 2-0 victory.

Baskin Jr. registered the first game-winning goal of the season, while Guardado notched the first two points of his career with his second half score.

Rams' senior goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellerose, N.Y.) recorded three saves in the shutout win. Brener made six saves for the Maccabees.

Farmingdale State next closes out their regular season schedule with a home Skyline Conference match versus Sarah Lawrence on Tuesday, October 25th at 4:00 p.m. The Rams currently sit one point behind Manhattanville for first place in the conference.
