Men's Soccer Drops Road Contest at Mount Saint Mary

Mount Saint Mary - 3, Farmingdale State - 0


NEWBURGH, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team dropped a Skyline Conference match at Mount Saint Mary, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.

The Knights (5-4-2, 3-1-1 Skyline) opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Marco Mazzarelli and Matt Wyant assisted on a goal by Christopher Maggi.

Only 7:22 later, Connor Doyle extended the MSMC advantage to 2-0 after scoring off the double assist from JC Lopez and Rob Kaufman.

At 28:12, the Knights drew a foul in the box to set up a penalty kick, but Wyant missed the net as the score remained, 2-0.

Mount Saint Mary took the 2-0 lead into the halftime break and increased the advantage just under 10 minutes into the second half when Maggi netted his second goal of the game, unassisted.

The Rams (2-5-2, 0-2-2 Skyline) were held to just two shots on goal in the second half as the Knights went on for the 3-0 victory.

Farmingdale State senior goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellerose, N.Y.) turned aside four shots on the day.

FSC next will play Old Westbury in a conference match on Tuesday, October 4th at 5:00 p.m. The match will be played at Farmingdale State with the Rams as the away team.
