Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team hosted St. Joseph's-Long Island to open their Skyline Conference schedule this afternoon and fell, 2-0. FSC dropped to 2-4 overall and 0-1 in the conference, while the Golden Eagles improved to 4-1, 1-0.

St. Joe's-LI scored the lone goal of the first half in the 14th minute following a foul just outside the box.

Golden Eagles' junior forward Connor Owenburg (Sayville, N.Y.) intercepted an FSC pass and quickly drew a foul. Freshman forward Nick Pensavalle (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) stepped up and buried the free-kick to the top left of the net to give St. Joe's a 1-0 lead.

SJ-LI nearly doubled their lead less than three minutes later when sophomore midfielder Sebastiano Bartolotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) sent a free-kick ahead to junior forward Justin Gracia (Bay Shore, N.Y.), who shot it just wide of the left goal post.

The Rams best opportunity of the first half came with 6:07 on the clock when senior forward Michael Lanouette (Hamden, Conn.) had a shot saved by a dive from St. Joe's sophomore keeper Josh Lehr (Center Moriches, N.Y.).

FSC came out quick in the second half, forcing a pair of corner kicks and attempting a shot, but were unable to find the back of the net.

At 57:00, Gracia increased the Golden Eagles advantage to 2-0 after chipping the ball around a Rams defender and scoring from 10 yards out.

In the 73rd minute, Lanouette attempted another shot that was saved by Lehr. Freshman forward Tyree Baskin Jr. (Freeport, N.Y.) corralled the rebound but shot the ball just high of the net as the game remained, 2-0.

Farmingdale State had just one more shot on goal as they fell, 2-0.

Lehr registered three saves in the shutout victory for St. Joseph's-Long Island.

FSC next hosts Merchant Marine for a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, September 24th at noon.
