Teaneck, N.J. - Tied at 1-1 with 13:03 left to play, Farmingdale State senior forward Carlos Rivera (Huntington, N.Y.) drew a foul inside the box and buried the penalty kick goal to propel the Rams to a 2-1 Skyline Conference victory at Yeshiva this afternoon. With the win, FSC improved to 9-5-1 overall and 7-2-1 in the conference. Farmingdale State is currently tied for third place in the Skyline (with Mount Saint Mary) with one game left to play.

Over the first 25 minutes of the game, Rams' sophomore goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellrose, N.Y.) and Yeshiva (4-6, 4-5 Skyline) senior goalie Sagi Badash (Rosh Ha'ayin, Israel) made two saves apiece to keep the game scoreless.

In the 27th minute, Rivera took a shot that was saved by Badash and went out of play for an FSC corner kick. On the corner, senior midfielder Alex Castano (Valley Stream, N.Y.) sent the ball in and senior defender Anthony Machado (Carle Place, N.Y.) scored to put the Rams ahead, 1-0.

The game remained 1-0 until 40:34 when YU junior forward Ethan Fattaya (Neuilly, France) beat Silva on a breakaway to knot the score at 1-1.

After trading shots on goal throughout the first 30 minutes of the second half, Rivera dribbled up the sideline and was fouled just as he entered the box.

Rivera stepped up for the penalty kick and shot the ball right as the keeper dove left to put Farmingdale State on top, 2-1.

The Rams did not allow a shot in the final 13 minutes as they went on for the 2-1 victory.

Rivera has converted all three of his penalty kicks this season and now has six total in his four-year career. He is the all-time leader for Farmingdale State in penalty kicks attempted and made.

Silva (W, 8-4-1) stopped six shots and earned his eighth win of the season, while Badash (L, 4-5) made 12 saves in the loss.

The FSC men's soccer team next will host Maritime College for a conference game on Tuesday, October 26th at 6:00 p.m. on senior night.
