Strong Second Half Leads Rams Past Purchase

Purchase, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team traveled to Purchase College on Wednesday evening for a conference game and scored four goals in the second half en route to a 5-0 victory.

The Rams (8-5-1, 6-2-1 Skyline) opened the scoring in the 16th minute as sophomore defender Wilmer Dominguez (Huntington Station, N.Y.) scored off a rebound to go ahead, 1-0.

Each team had just one shot on goal over the remainder of the first half as FSC took the 1-0 advantage into the break.

FSC came out quickly, scoring just over four minutes into the second half. Junior defender Michael Lanouette (Hamden, Conn.) tallied the goal off the cross in front from senior midfielder Alex Castano (Valley Stream, N.Y.) to put the Rams on top, 2-0.

At 64:32, Castano scored from junior defender Derick Rivera (Levittown, N.Y.) to take a 3-0 lead. Just over five minutes later, Lanouette set up freshman forward Roberto Alfaro (Huntington Station, N.Y.) for a goal to give FSC a four-goal advantage.

Farmingdale State's final score came with only 1:54 remaining after freshman midfielder Heris Robles (Central Islip, N.Y.) tallied his first career goal as FSC went on for the 5-0 win.

Castano and Lanouette combined for six points as they each had a goal and an assist.

Rams' sophomore goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellrose, N.Y.) (W, 7-4-1) made two saves and picked up his sixth shutout of the season.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Yeshiva for a Skyline Conference game on Sunday, October 24th at 1:00 p.m.
