Bileddo, Alfaro Score as Rams Defeat Old Westbury

Farmingdale State - 2, Old Westbury - 0


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The FSC men's soccer team hosted Old Westbury for a Skyline Conference game this afternoon and won, 2-0. With the victory, the Rams improved to 7-3-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the Skyline.

Farmingdale State controlled play over the first 30:20 of the game, attempting seven shots to just one for Old Westbury (2-9, 0-6 Skyline).

At 36:23, the Rams got on the board after freshman midfielder Anthony Bileddo (Carle Place, N.Y.) dribbled around two Panthers defenders and scored from just outside the box.

The Rams took one more shot before the end of the half as they entered the break ahead, 1-0.

After only three shots in the first 20 minutes of the second half, FSC senior midfielder Carlos Rivera (Huntington, N.Y.) sent a shot on goal that Old Westbury senior goalie James Perciballi (Elmont, N.Y.) had to make a diving save.

Just 1:37 later, freshman forward Roberto Alfaro (Huntington Station, N.Y.) scored off the cross from junior defender Michael Lanouette (Hamden, Conn.) to extend the FSC lead to 2-0.

Each team had just one shot over the final 23:47 as the Rams earned the 2-0 Skyline Conference victory.

Lanouette posted his team-leading 14th point of the season, a mark that ranks fourth in the Skyline, while sophomore goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellrose, N.Y.) (W, 6-2-1) earned his conference-leading fifth shutout.

Perciballi made six saves in the loss for Old Westbury.

Farmingdale State next hosts Manhattanville for a Skyline Conference game on Tuesday, October 12th at 4:00 p.m.
