FSC and MSMC End in Double OT Tie

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State and Mount Saint Mary squared off in a Skyline Conference men's soccer game this evening and ended in a 1-1 double overtime tie. The Rams now stand at 6-3-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the Skyline, while the Knights are 4-5-1, 3-1-1.

In a scoreless first half, MSMC held a slight 4-3 shot advantage and took five corner kicks compared to only one by the Rams.

The Knights took a 1-0 lead 6:51 after the break on a goal by junior forward Connor Doyle (New Windsor, N.Y.) off the pass by senior defender Joseph Mesoraca (Oceanside, N.Y.).

In the 69th minute, FSC senior midfielder Alex Castano (Valley Stream, N.Y.) scored his first goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1 as both Nemiah O'Neill (Central Islip, N.Y.) and Roberto Alfaro (Huntington Station, N.Y.) recorded assists.

Each team attempted two shots on goal during the remainder of regulation as the game headed to overtime tied, 1-1.

In the first OT, junior defender Derick Rivera (Levittown, N.Y.) and senior midfielder Carlos Rivera (Huntington, N.Y.) each had shots on goal for the Rams but both were saved by MSMC junior goalkeeper Zach Decker (Red Hook, N.Y.).

In the second overtime, neither team had a shot on goal as the game ended 1-1. 

Farmingdale State sophomore goalie Justin Silva (Bellrose, N.Y.) stopped five shots, while Decker finished the night with seven saves.

The Rams next will host Skyline opponent Old Westbury on Saturday, October 9th at 12:00 p.m.
