Rams Shutout Merchant Marine; Improve to 3-0 in Skyline

Kings Point, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team traveled to Merchant Marine for a Skyline Conference game on Tuesday night and earned a 2-0 victory. With the win, the Rams improved to a perfect 3-0 in the conference and hold an overall record of 5-3.

In a scoreless first half, FSC held the Mariners (6-5, 3-1) without a shot on goal, while the Rams tallied four on goal which were all saved by junior Chase Miller (Boise, Idaho).

Farmingdale State got on the board in the 62nd minute when freshman forward Erick Maldonado (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored off the pass by junior defender Michael Lanouette (Hamden, Conn.).

With 8:01 left on the clock, Lanouette put the Rams up 2-0 and the game out of reach with a goal to the lower left corner of the net as both senior midfielder Alex Castano (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Maldonado recorded assists.

Maldonado and Lanouette each had three points in the victory for FSC.

Sophomore goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellrose, N.Y.) had three saves for the Rams, while Miller stopped 12 shots in the loss for the Mariners. 

Farmingdale State next will host St. Joseph's-Brooklyn in a conference game on Saturday, October 2nd at noon.
