Maldonado Leads Rams Past Sarah Lawrence

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State freshman forward Erick Maldonado (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal as the men's soccer opened Skyline Conference play with a 1-0 victory at Sarah Lawrence on Wednesday evening. With the win, FSC improved to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while the Gryphons fell to 2-5, 0-1.

Maldonado recorded the game-winner with 26:52 remaining in the first half as he scored off the pass by junior midfielder Luke Kasulke (Seaford, N.Y.). The Rams defense held Sarah Lawrence to zero shots in the first half. 

In a scoreless second half, Farmingdale State outshot SLC 11-2 and held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks. The Rams had five shots on goal all of which were saved by freshman goalkeeper Kian Silva (Arlington, Mass.). The only shot on goal in the game for the Gryphons came in the 68th minute but it was saved by FSC sophomore goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellrose, N.Y.) as the Rams went on for the 1-0 victory.

Farmingdale State next will travel to St. Joseph's-Long Island for a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, September 25th at 3:00 p.m.
