FSC Falls 3-2 in Overtime to FDU-Florham

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team played host to non-conference opponent FDU-Florham today and fell 3-2 in overtime. The Rams dropped to 2-3 on the year, while the Devils improved to 3-2-1.

FDU-Florham struck first just before the 10-minute mark on a shot to the bottom right corner of the net by senior forward Christian Vriones (Butler, N.J.) off the pass into the box by Diego Stanziola (Kenilworth, N.J.).

Other than the Devils' lone goal, the first half was evenly matched as FDU-Florham held a slight 6-5 shot advantage over the Rams.

FSC tied the game only 4:53 after the break on a penalty kick score by senior midfielder Carlos Rivera (Huntington, N.Y.).

In the 74th minute, junior midfielder Oliver Trujillo (Bridgewater, N.J.) tallied an unassisted goal on a shot from 10 yards out to put FDU-Florham back in front, 2-1.

With only 4:26 remaining in regulation, Farmingdale State senior defender Anthony Machado (Carle Place, N.Y.) netted the pass from Rivera to even the score at 2-2 and send the game to overtime.

The Devils' game-winner came with 1:18 left in overtime on a goal by graduate forward Ricky La Stella (Bridgewater, N.J.) to lead FDU-Florham to the 3-2 non-conference victory.

The Rams next will head on the road for their first Skyline Conference game of the season at Sarah Lawrence on Wednesday, September 22nd at 7:00 p.m.
