Farmingdale, N.Y. - The fourth-seeded Farmingdale State men's soccer team played host to #5 Old Westbury in the first round of the Skyline Conference Championship this afternoon and earned a 1-0 victory. The Rams advance to the semifinals at top-seeded Mount Saint Mary.

FSC (10-10) scored the only goal in the first half with 26:53 on the clock. Junior midfielder Bryan Argueta (Westbury, N.Y.) recorded an unassisted goal from 15 yards out to the right corner of the net to put the Rams on top, 1-0. Farmingdale State controlled the first half offensively as they outshot the Panthers (7-10-2) 8-4 and held a 2-0 corner kick advantage.

Old Westbury started quick in the second half and took three shots (two of which were on goal) in the first 2:46 of action.

With 11:47 remaining on the clock, the Panthers attempted their first of four consecutive corner kicks over the next 1:41 but were unable to find the net. OW followed with Michael DaSilva (West Hempstead, N.Y.) shot from in front which was saved by freshman goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellrose, N.Y.) and a Rudy Salmeron (Huntington Station, N.Y.) shot which FSC recorded a team save on. After the Rams dodged the threat by the Panthers, they held Old Westbury without a shot the remainder of the game and went on for the 1-0 victory.

Silva finished with six saves, while sophomore goalkeeper James Perciballi (Elmont, N.Y.) stopped five shots in the loss for Old Westbury.

The Rams will now travel to #1 MSMC on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
