Greene's Late Goal Leads Mount Saint Vincent Past FSC

Riverdale, N.Y. - With 10:22 left to play in regulation, junior defender Khari Greene (Newport News, VA) broke a 2-2 tie and scored the game-winning goal for Mount Saint Vincent. With the loss, the Farmingdale State men's soccer team fell to 8-9 overall and 5-4 in the Skyline, while the Dolphins improved to 4-10-1, 3-5-1.

Mount Saint Vincent jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute after freshman midfielder Sory Konate (Harlem, N.Y.) sent home the pass from freshman forward Santiago Ferrer (Tijuana, Mexico). The Dolphins took their 1-0 advantage into the break after controlling the first half by outshooting the Rams 8-1 and holding a 4-0 corner kick edge.

Only 2:02 after halftime, CMSV extended the lead to 2-0 on a score by freshman midfielder Adam Maryniewski (Jamul, CA).

The Rams cut the deficit in half in the 55th minute on a goal to the top right corner of the net by junior forward Carlos Rivera (Huntington, N.Y.) off the pass from freshman midfielder Romeo Lepe (Massapequa, N.Y.). Less than four minutes later, Farmingdale State tied the game at 2-2 on a unassisted goal by Lepe.

With 10:22 remaining, Greene secured the rebound in front of the net and sent home the game-winner as the Dolphins earned the 3-2 Skyline Conference victory.

The Rams next will travel to Purchase for a conference game on Saturday, October 26th at 11:00 a.m.
