FSC Athletics Fall Update #8

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #8 on Monday, October 21st, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Women's Tennis Update (14-1, 7-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In their final two matches of the season, Farmingdale State picked up a pair of 9-0 shutout victories over conference opponents Sarah Lawrence and Purchase.

Senior Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) was named the Player of the Week for the third time this season, while freshman Anastasia Hoffman (North Massapequa, N.Y.) earned her fourth Rookie of the Week honor.

Reidy posted a pair of wins at #1 singles and #1 doubles to help the Rams secure the top seed for the Skyline Conference playoffs. She earned an 8-1 doubles victory and a 6-0, 6-0 shutout win in singles play against Sarah Lawrence and recorded an 8-4 doubles victory and a 6-3, 6-2 win in singles action against Purchase.

Hoffman recorded an 8-1, #1 doubles victory against Sarah Lawrence and added an 8-4 doubles win and a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at the #3 singles flight over Purchase.

The Rams have earned the #1 seed for the Skyline Conference Championship and will host the Semifinals versus Yeshiva on Thursday @ 5:00 p.m. 

 

Women's Volleyball Update (13-12, 5-3 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In a pair of conference matches last week, Farmingdale State fell to both Mount Saint Vincent, 3-1, and Manhattanville, 3-2.

Senior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) earned a spot on the Player of the Week honor roll after registering 40 kills with a .416 hitting percentage and nine total blocks (three solo).

This week, FSC will host Skyline opponent St. Joseph's-Long Island on Wednesday @ 6:00 p.m.

 

Women's Soccer Update (8-5-2, 5-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In two games last week, the Rams fell at non-conference opponent Swarthmore, 1-0, before defeating conference opponent Old Westbury, 2-0.

Junior midfielder Kristen Shine (Manorville, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week honor roll. Shine picked up a goal and one assist for three points in the 2-0 decision at Old Westbury.

FSC will play three Skyline Conference games this week: Tuesday vs. Mount Saint Vincent @ 7:00 p.m., Thursday at Mount Saint Mary @ 4:00 p.m. & Saturday vs. Purchase @ noon (Senior Day).

 

Cross Country Update - Women's Full Report    Men's Full Report

The FSC cross country teams competed at the 20th Annual St. Joseph's Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park on Saturday. The women came in 6th of 24 teams, while the men placed 11th of 25 teams.

Senior Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) and sophomore Evan McCrann (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) were both named to the honor roll for the second straight week. Lettieri led the women with a 19th place finish as she completed the 5k race in 21:11.6. McCrann recorded the best time for Farmingdale State in the men's 8k with a 23rd place finish in 28:52.4.

After a week off, the Rams next will compete at the Skyline Conference Championships held at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, N.Y. on Thursday, October 31st.

 

Men's Soccer Update (8-8, 5-3 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The Rams dropped both of their conference matches last week to Mount Saint Mary, 3-1, and Old Westbury, 2-1 (2OT). 

This week, the men's soccer team will play two Skyline Conference road games: Wednesday at Mount Saint Vincent @ 3:30 p.m. & Saturday at Purchase @ 11:00 a.m.
