Rams Fall at Home to First Place Mount Saint Mary

Mount Saint Mary - 3, Farmingdale State - 1


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team hosted first place Mount Saint Mary in a Skyline Conference game this afternoon and fell, 3-1. The Rams had their four game winning streak snapped and now stand at 8-7 overall and 5-2 in conference play.

The Knights (10-4-1, 7-0-1) struck first in the 17th minute when sophomore forward Connor Doyle (New Windsor, N.Y.) scored off the pass by junior defender Joseph Mesoraca (Oceanside, N.Y.). Less than 10 minutes later, MSMC senior forward Joey Dolan's (New Paltz, N.Y.) put the Knights ahead by two as Mesoraca tallied his second assist of the game. In the first half, Farmingdale State attempted five shots (two on goal) but we unable to find the net.

With 25:24 remaining, an unassisted goal by sophomore midfielder Matt Wyant (Beacon, N.Y.) increased the Mount Saint Mary lead to 3-0.

FSC sophomore forward Chris Schmidt (Massapequa, N.Y.) recorded the games final goal in the 83rd minute as the Rams were defeated, 3-1.

Junior goalkeeper Tyler Rapp (East Berne, N.Y.) stopped seven shots in the victory for the Knights.

The Rams next will play host to Skyline opponent Old Westbury on Saturday, October 19th at noon for Senior Day.
