- Reidy named Player of the Week & Silva earns Defensive Player of the Week honors -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #7 on Monday, October 14th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, men's golf, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Women's Tennis Update (12-1, 5-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In their only match last week, Farmingdale State won their 11th straight with a 9-0 shutout win over Manhattanville.

Senior Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) was named the Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks as she earned an 8-6 decision at #1 doubles, before coming back from one set down to pick up a three-set triumph over previously undefeated Renay Charley (Redondo Beach, Calif.) in top-flight singles, 3-6, 6-1 and 1-0 (10-4).

This week, the Rams will close out their regular season schedule with a pair of home conference matches: Tuesday vs. Sarah Lawrence @ 5:30 p.m. and Friday vs. Purchase @ 3:00 p.m. (Senior Day)

 

Men's Soccer Update (8-6, 5-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The men's soccer team earned two conference wins last week as they defeated Merchant Marine, 1-0, and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, 6-0.

Freshman goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellrose, N.Y.) was tabbed Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. Silva played a hand in both Skyline clean sheets for the Rams, allowing no goals and turning aside eight shots over 160-plus minutes played. He stopped three shots in the midweek clean sheet at USMMA and added five saves in 70:31 of action in Saturday's shutout of St. Joseph's-Brooklyn.

Farmingdale State will host a pair of Skyline games this week: Tuesday vs. Mount Saint Mary @ 5:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. Old Westbury @ noon (Senior Day)

 

Women's Volleyball Update (12-10, 4-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In four matches last week, the women's volleyball team defeated conference opponents Mount Saint Mary (3-2) and Purchase (3-0), but lost both non-conference games to NYU (3-1) and Misericordia (3-0).

Senior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) was tabbed to the Player of the Week honor roll after registering 49 points on the week, including a team-high 36 kills and 15 total blocks (five solo).

The Rams will play two conference matches this week: Tuesday vs. Mount Saint Vincent @ 7:00 p.m. and Thursday at Manhattanville @ 7:00 p.m.

 

Cross Country Update - Women's Full Report    Men's Full Report

The Farmingdale State cross country teams competed in the Golden Eagle Invitational at Bethpage State Park last week. The women placed fifth out of 19 teams, while the men came in 10th of 20.

Senior Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) and sophomore Evan McCrann (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) were both named to the Runner of the Week honor roll. Lettieri finished in seventh out of 150 runners with a 5k time of 19:40.8, while McCrann came in 15th out of 175 in a personal best 8k time of 27:54.8.

This week, Farmingdale State will travel to Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, N.Y. for the 20th Annual St. Joseph's Invitational on Saturday.

 

Women's Soccer Update (7-5-2, 4-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In two games last week, the FSC women's soccer team defeated conference opponent Sarah Lawrence, 2-0, before falling to #24 Williams, 2-0. 

The Rams will play two Skyline games this week: Wednesday vs. Maritime at 4:00 p.m. and Saturday at Old Westbury @ noon

 

Men's Golf Update

On Friday, the men's golf team closed out the fall season at the MSMC Skyline Invitational at The Powelton Club and came in second place.
