- Hoffman named Rookie of the Week & Silva tabbed Defensive Player of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #6 on Monday, October 7th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, men's golf, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Women's Tennis Update (11-1, 4-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

FSC, who has won 10 straight matches, was 2-0 last week with victories over both Western Connecticut (8-1) and Mount Saint Mary (8-1).

Freshman Anastasia Hoffman (North Massapequa, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week for the third consecutive week. She was 2-0 in both singles and doubles competition. Against Western Connecticut, Hoffman earned an 8-2 #1 doubles win and a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at #2 singles and followed with an 8-7 (7-3) win in at first doubles and a 6-0, 6-0 #3 singles victory versus MSMC.

Sophomore Nicole Tzanetos (Merrick, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after winning both singles and doubles matches. She is now 10-1 in singles competition for the first-place Rams (11-1, 4-0 Skyline).

This week the women's tennis team will host Manhattanville in a Skyline match on Saturday at noon.

 

Men's Soccer Update (6-6, 3-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The men's soccer team recorded a pair of conference wins last week over Sarah Lawrence (7-0) and St. Joseph's-LI (3-0).

Freshman goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellrose, N.Y.) earned Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors. He did not allow a goal on 14 shots faced helping the Rams to two shutout victories. Silva stopped three shots in 76 minutes of action midweek against Sarah Lawrence and went the distance with a seven-stop clean sheet on the weekend over St. Joseph's-LI.

Junior midfielder Bryan Argueta (Westbury, N.Y.) claimed a spot on the Honor Roll after scoring two goals, including one on a penalty kick.

The men's soccer team is slated to play two Skyline games this week: Wednesday at Merchant Marine @ 7:45 p.m. and Saturday vs. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn @ noon.

 

Women's Soccer Update (6-3-2, 3-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In their only game last week, Farmingdale State earned a 1-0 overtime victory over St. Joseph's-LI.

This week the women's soccer team will play a pair of road games: Tuesday at Sarah Lawrence @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at #22 Williams @ noon.

 

Women's Volleyball Update (11-8, 3-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State was 1-1 last week with a 3-0 victory over Maritime and a 3-0 loss to Merchant Marine.

The Rams will play three matches this week: Wednesday at Purchase @ 7:30 p.m. and Saturday vs. NYU @ 11:00 a.m. and Misericordia @ 3:00 p.m.

 

Cross Country Update - Women's Full Report    Men's Full Report

The men's and women's cross country teams each finished in sixth place at the MSMC Knight Invitational held at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, N.Y. last week.

Senior Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after placing seventh in 25:41.9.

This week FSC will compete at the 1st Annual Golden Eagle Invitational at Bethpage State Park on Saturday.

 

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team finished in 9th place out of 12 teams last weekend at the 2019 Montgomery Cup hosted by Rosemont College.

Farmingdale State will close out the fall season on Friday when they compete in the MSMC Skyline Invitational at The Powelton Club in Newburgh, N.Y.
