FSC Athletics Fall Update #5

- Reidy named Player of the Week, Hoffman and Zere tabbed Rookie's of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #5 on Monday, September 30th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, men's golf, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Women's Tennis Update (9-1, 3-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The FSC women's tennis team increased their winning streak to eight matches after a perfect 3-0 week with victories over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (9-0), Hunter College (7-2) and St. Joseph's-LI (8-1).

Senior Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Reidy led the Rams to a 3-0 week after going perfect in No. 1 doubles and singles action. Against St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, Reidy earned an 8-2 doubles victory and a 6-3, 6-2 singles win. In a non-conference match vs. Hunter, she won 8-3 in doubles and 7-6, 6-2 at singles. Reidy closed out the week versus St. Joseph's-LI with an 8-3 win in doubles and a 6-2, 6-2 singles victory.

Freshman Anastasia Hoffman (North Massapequa, N.Y.) was tabbed Skyline Rookie of the Week for the second straight week. She posted a 3-0 mark at No. 1 doubles and was 3-0 splitting time between Nos. 2 and 3 singles. Hoffman registered an 8-2 doubles win and a straight-set, 6-0, 6-0 victory in singles against St. Joseph's-Brooklyn. Versus Hunter, she won 8-3 in doubles and 6-1, 6-1 in singles. Hoffman closed out the week with an 8-3 doubles win and 6-0, 6-1 singles victory over St. Joseph's-LI.

This week the Rams will play three matches: Wednesday vs. Purchase (4:30 p.m.), Friday vs. Western Connecticut (3:30 p.m.) and Saturday at Mount Saint Mary (1:00 p.m.).

 

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team recorded a runner-up finish at the Skyline Conference Championship and followed with a second place finish at the 12-team FSC Fall Invitational this past weekend.

Freshman Kyle Zere (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Zere finished in a tie for third place at the Skyline Championship with rounds of 78 and 68 for a two day total of 146. His final round 68 tied the Farmingdale State school record which is held by Adam Larkin. At the FSC Fall Invitational, Zere took third out of 60 players with scores of 71 and 73.

This week the men's golf team will travel to Concord Country Club in West Chester, Penn. for the 2019 Montgomery Cup hosted by Rosemont College on Saturday and Sunday.

 

Women's Soccer Update (5-2-2, 2-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State was 2-1 last week with victories over Yeshiva (8-0) and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (3-0). The only loss for the Rams came at NYU, 1-0.

Junior midfielder Brittney Starzee (Babylon, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after scoring a team-high three goals. She netted a pair of goals against Yeshiva and added a score versus St. Joe's-Brooklyn.

The women's soccer team will host St. Joseph's-LI on Saturday at noon.

 

Men's Soccer Update (4-6, 1-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The Rams were 1-1 in a pair of conference games last week after a 6-1 win at Yeshiva and a 2-0 loss at Maritime.

This week the men's soccer team will play two Skyline Conference road games: Tuesday at Sarah Lawrence (7:00 p.m.) and Saturday at St. Joe's-LI (12:00 p.m.)

 

Women's Volleyball Update (9-7, 1-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The FSC women's volleyball team went 2-2 last week and recorded wins over both Yeshiva (3-0) and John Jay (3-1).

Farmingdale State is slated to play two Skyline matches this week: Tuesday at Maritime (6:00 p.m.) and Thursday vs. Merchant Marine (7:00 p.m.).

 

Cross Country Update

The Rams had the week off and return to action on Saturday, October 5th for the MSMC Knight Invitational at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, N.Y.
