Henry Scores Twice as Maritime Defeats Farmingdale State

Farmingdale, N.Y. - In a Skyline Conference men's soccer game this afternoon, Maritime junior defender Denton Henry (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) led the way for the Privateers by scoring both goals in the 2-0 victory. With the loss, Farmingdale State fell to 4-6 and 1-1 in conference play, while Maritime improved to 6-5, 1-1.

Henry recorded his first goal of the game just 6:36 in as he netted the corner kick from sophomore midfielder Thomas Kropp (East Northport, N.Y.).

Despite being outshot 10-5 in the first half, the Privateers took the 1-0 advantage into the halftime break.

Just over 15 minutes into the second half, Henry tallied his second goal of the game, unassisted to put Maritime in front, 2-0.

Over the final 29:53, the Privateers held Farmingdale State to just two shots on goal as they earned the 2-0 conference win.

Freshman goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellrose, N.Y.) had four saves for FSC, while Maritime senior goalie Michael Rodriguez (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) stopped five shots to pick up the shutout.

The Rams next travel to conference opponent Sarah Lawrence on Tuesday, October 1st at 7:00 p.m.
