Rams Open Skyline Play With Win at Yeshiva

Farmingdale State - 6, Yeshiva - 1


Teaneck, N.J. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team earned a 6-1 victory over Yeshiva this afternoon in their first Skyline Conference game of the season. The Rams improved 4-5 (1-0 Skyline) with today's victory, while the Maccabees dropped to 2-6-1, 0-5-1.

Senior midfielder Alec Chapoteau (Wantagh, N.Y.) opened the scoring for Farmingdale State in the 11th minute as he netted the pass from junior forward Carlos Rivera (Huntington, N.Y.). FSC increased the advantage to 2-0 less four minutes later after junior midfielder Alex Castano (Valley Stream, N.Y.) scored from inside the box on a through pass by junior forward Robert Anastasio (Lynbrook, N.Y.).

After Yeshiva cut the deficit to 2-1, the Rams answered with a goal from Anastasio with 1:07 left in the half to take a 3-1 lead into the break.

Early in the second half, Chapoteau tallied his second score of the game on a shot from 25 yards out to increase the advantage to 4-1. Three seconds later, Rivera recorded a goal from 30 yards out to put FSC up by four.

The final goal of the game came in the 75th minute on a shot to the bottom right corner of the net by junior midfielder Bryan Argueta (Westbury, N.Y.) off the pass from freshman midfielder Romeo Lepe (Massapequa, N.Y.).

Farmingdale State freshman goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellrose, N.Y.) stopped four shots in 70 minutes of action.

The Rams next will host Maritime in a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, September 28th at noon.
