FSC Athletics Fall Update #4

- Hoffman Named Rookie of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #4 on Tuesday, September 24th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, men's golf, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Women's Tennis Update (6-1, 1-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The FSC women's tennis team picked up three wins last week as they defeated Lehman (6-3), Yeshiva (8-1) and Staten Island (9-0).

Freshman Anastasia Hoffman (North Massapequa, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week as she went 3-0 in singles play and 2-1 at No. 1 doubles. Hoffman lost just five total singles games in trio of straight-set victories. Sophomore Nicole Tzanetos (Merrick, N.Y.) earned a spot on the Player of the Week honor roll after going undefeated with three No. 2 doubles and two singles victories.

This week the Rams will play three matches: Tuesday at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn @ 7:00 p.m., Wednesday vs. Hunter @ 4:30 p.m. & Saturday at St. Joseph's-Long Island @ noon.

 

Cross Country Update - Men's Full Report  - Women's Full Report

At the Fred Pavlich Invitational on Saturday, both the men's and women's cross country teams finished in 10th.

Senior Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) and sophomore Joshua Green (Shelter Island, N.Y.) were both tabbed to the honor roll. Lettieri placed 27th (25:59.8) individually in the women's 6k, while Green came in 45th (28:45.9) in the men's 8k.

FSC will next return to action on Saturday, October 5th when they travel to the Hudson Valley Sportsdome for the Mount Saint Mary College Invitational.

 

Women's Volleyball Update (7-5, 0-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In three matches last week, the women's volleyball team defeated William Paterson (3-2) and SUNY Delhi (3-0), but dropped a match to MCLA (3-1).

Sophomore outside Rachel McCartin (Wantagh, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week honor roll as she averaged a double-double after recording 39 kills and 51 digs. McCartin also held a .232 attacking percentage on the week.

This week, the Rams will play host to conference opponent Yeshiva on Tuesday @ 7:00 p.m. before traveling to Wesley College for a quad match on Friday. FSC will play John Jay on Friday @ 8:00 p.m. and both Wilkes and Wesley on Saturday @ 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., respectively.

 

Men's Golf Update

The Farmingdale State men's golf team hosted and won the FSC Skyline Invitational on Friday, before earning a runner-up finish at the Skyline Conference Championship at Bethpage State Park on Sunday and Monday.

FSC freshmen Kyle Zere (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and Chris Iguchi (Centereach, N.Y.) tied for third place after shooting a two-day total of 146 at the Championship and were named Co-Rookies of the Year.

This week, the Rams will host the 12-team FSC Fall Invitational at Bethpage Red on Saturday, September 28th and Sunday, September 29th.

 

Women's Soccer Update (3-2-2, 0-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In a pair of non-conference games last week, Farmingdale State defeated Western Connecticut State, 1-0, but fell at Geneseo, 5-0. 

This week FSC will travel to play Yeshiva on Tuesday @ 8:15 p.m. & NYU on Wednesday @ 7:00 p.m., before hosting St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Saturday @ 2:30 p.m.

 

Men's Soccer Update (3-5, 0-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The men's soccer team lost both of their home non-conference games last week to New Jersey City (2-1) and New Paltz (4-0). 

This week, Farmingdale State plays two Skyline Conference games: Tuesday at Yeshiva @ 12:30 p.m. & Saturday vs. Maritime @ noon.
