FSC Earns Shutout Win Over Hunter College

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team scored a season-high six goals in the 6-0 shutout victory over non-conference opponent Hunter College this afternoon. With the win, the Rams improved to 3-3, while the Hawks dropped to 1-4-1.

FSC recorded their first goal only 5:11 into the game after senior midfielder Alec Chapoteau (Wantagh, N.Y.) scored off the cross in front by junior Luis Steven Vasquez (Brentwood, N.Y.). Less than nine minutes later, the Rams increased the advantage to 2-0 on a Michael Gino (Wantagh, N.Y.) goal as he dribbled around the defender and shot to the right corner of the net.

With 22:46 left to play in the first half, FSC took a three-score lead on a Carlos Rivera (Huntington, N.Y.) goal that both Alex Castano (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Chris Schmidt (Massapequa, N.Y.) tallied assists. Only 42 seconds later, Farmingdale State went on top 4-0 after Rivera's second goal of the game in which he netted a long pass down the field by junior midfielder Bryan Argueta (Westbury, N.Y.).

Argueta scored FSC's final goal of the first half in the 33rd minute on a shot from 25 yards out. The Rams converted on 5-of-8 shots in the half and took a 5-0 lead into the break.

In the second half, Farmingdale State's only goal was scored by junior forward Kyle Darden (Floral Park, N.Y.) in the 61st minute of action.

In goal for the Rams, freshman Justin Silva (Bellrose, N.Y.) and junior Jacob Liese (Massapequa, N.Y.) split time and each recorded a pair of saves.

The FSC men's soccer team next will host non-conference opponent New Jersey City University on Wednesday, September 18th at 7:00 p.m.
