Rams Fall to Baruch in Home Opener

Baruch - 2, Farmingdale State - 0


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team hosted Baruch in their first home of the season this evening and fell, 2-0.

The Bearcats (2-3) quickly took a 1-0 lead only 1:01 into the game after junior midfielder Frank Iacovano's (Bethpage, N.Y.) shot from the corner of the box hit the left post and found the net for the goal. After the opening score, each team attempted four shots over the remainder of the half as Baruch went into the break leading by one.

In the 51st minute, FSC's (2-3) Romeo Lepe (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Alex Castano (Valley Stream, N.Y.) each attempted shots that were saved by Kellen Sela (Beacon, N.Y.) as the Bearcats remained up, 1-0.

With 5:51 left to play, senior midfielder Shaiem Allah Morad (Glen Oaks, N.Y.) netted the pass by junior midfielder Adonis Martinez (Levittown, N.Y.) to put Baruch out in front, 2-0. The Rams took two shots over the final minutes but were unable to score.

Sela recorded seven saves in the shutout victory for the Bearcats, while freshman goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellrose, N.Y.) stopped one shot for Farmingdale State. 

The Rams next will host Hunter College in a non-conference game on Saturday, September 14th at noon.
