Chapoteau's OT Game-Winner Leads FSC Past FDU-Florham

Madison, N.J. - With 6:32 remaining in overtime, Farmingdale State senior midfielder Alec Chapoteau (Wantagh, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal to lead the Rams to a 2-1 non-conference victory at FDU-Florham this afternoon. With the win, the FSC men's soccer team improved to 1-2 on the year, while the Devils are now 1-1-1.

After a scoreless first half, FDU-Florham opened the scoring in the 63rd minute on an unassisted goal by junior midfielder Brandon McGregor (Highland Mills, N.Y.). The Knights held the 1-0 advantage until just under seven minutes remaining when Farmingdale State sophomore forward Chris Schmidt (Massapequa, N.Y.) netted the pass from junior forward Robert Anastasio (Lynbrook, N.Y.) and evened the score at 1-1.

Over the final 6:50 of regulation, the Knights attempted the only shot which was blocked by the FSC defense.

In overtime, Chapoteau scored the game-winning goal off the pass by junior forward Carlos Rivera (Huntington, N.Y.) as the Rams earned their first victory of the season.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Brooklyn College for a non-conference game on Monday, September 9th at 4:00 p.m.
