Rams Fall in Season Opener at Oneonta

Oneonta, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team opened the 2019 season with a non-conference road game at Oneonta this afternoon and fell, 4-0. The Red Dragons improved to 2-0 on the year after today's victory.

Oneonta opened the scoring in the 39th minute after freshman midfielder Denis Fleming (Pearl River, N.Y.) netted the pass from senior midfielder Nick Dillmann (Fishkill, N.Y.). Only 2:57 later, the Red Dragons extended the advantage to 2-0 on an unassisted goal by senior forward Witman Hernandez (Huntington, N.Y.). Oneonta took the 2-0 lead into the break after outshooting FSC (0-1) 15-1 in the first half.

With less than five minutes remaining, freshman forward Lucas Fecci (Somers, N.Y.) tallied back-to-back goals to close out the game and the 4-0 victory for the Red Dragons.

Farmingdale State junior goalkeeper Jacob Liese (Massapequa, N.Y.) recorded a career-high 11 saves in the loss, while freshman Nate Hanna (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) did not have a save in the shutout win.

The Rams return to action tomorrow at noon when they travel to non-conference opponent Hartwick.
