Hamel Scores Twice in Conference Victory

Farmingdale, N.Y. - FSC sophomore forward Thomas Hamel (Farmingdale, N.Y.) scored two goals to lead the men's soccer team to a 3-0 Skyline victory over Mount Saint Vincent this afternoon. With the win, Farmingdale State improved to 7-7 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

After a scoreless first half, FSC opened the scoring in the 49th minute on a goal from sophomore defender Luis Steven Vasquez (Bay Shore, N.Y.) off the feed from senior midfielder William Grajales (Cali, Colombia). 

Only 9:21 later, senior midfielder Alec Chapoteau (Wantagh, N.Y.) set up Hamel for his first goal of the game to put the Rams ahead 2-0.

At 64:19, Hamel tallied his second score of the game off the long pass from junior midfielder Giovanni Lonetti (Levittown, N.Y.) to give Farmingdale State a 3-0 lead.

Neither team would score over the final 25:41 as FSC captured the conference win, 3-0.

In goal, FSC senior Scott Flores (Commack, N.Y.) tallied one save in his fifth shutout of the season, while Dolphins (2-14, 0-8 Skyline) junior Padelis Astredinis (Flushing, N.Y.) stopped seven shots in defeat.

The Rams next host Sarah Lawrence in a Skyline Conference game on Thursday, October 18th at 4:00 p.m.
