Merchant Marine Blanks Rams in Skyline Action

Merchant Marine - 1, Farmingdale State - 0


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team hosted Merchant Marine in a conference game this afternoon and fell, 1-0. The Rams dropped to 6-5 on the season and an even 2-2 in Skyline play, while the Mariners improved to 7-3-2, 3-2-1.

With 15:45 left to play in the first half, junior forward Matt McCurnin (Newark, Del.) scored from 10 yards out off the pass by sophomore midfielder Joe Clark (Baltimore, Md.) to put Merchant Marine ahead, 1-0. The Mariners controlled the half and took their one-goal lead into the break after out shooting Farmingdale State, 8-0, in the first. 

In a scoreless second half, the Rams had two shots on goal which came in the 60th and 88th minutes.

FSC senior goalkeeper Scott Flores (Commack, N.Y.) recorded six saves, while junior Matthew Milner (Mount Airy, Md.) stopped two shots for Merchant Marine. 

Farmingdale State next will host Yeshiva in a Skyline Conference game on Wednesday, October 10th at 4:00 p.m.
