Cruz and Hamel Score in Rams Shutout of Hartwick

Oneonta, N.Y. - The FSC men's soccer team traveled to Hartwick College on Sunday afternoon and won, 2-0, behind goals from junior midfielder Brayan Cruz (Levittown, N.Y.) and sophomore forward Thomas Hamel (Farmingdale, N.Y.).

Farmingdale State (4-4) controlled the game early as they tallied five shots and six corner kicks in the first 29:02, before Cruz gathered his own rebound and shot it past Hawks (0-5) freshman goalkeeper Aidan Wholihan (Annapolis, Md.) to put the Rams ahead, 1-0.

The game remained 1-0 until 88:01 when FSC junior midfielder Giovanni Lonetti (Levittown, N.Y.) set up Hamel for a breakaway goal.

Farmingdale State outshot Hartwick, 14-6, and held an 8-3 corner kick advantage in the 2-0 victory.

In goal, Rams junior Jacob Liese (Massapequa, N.Y.) registered the shutout as he recorded three saves in his season debut.

FSC next travels to play Skyline opponent St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Saturday, September 29th at 7:00 p.m.
