Strong First Half Leads Manhattanville Past FSC

Purchase, N.Y. - Manhattanville scored four first half goals en route to a 4-0 non-conference victory over Farmingdale State on Wednesday afternoon in Purchase, N.Y. The FSC men's soccer team dropped to an even 3-3 on the year, while the Valiants improved to 5-2.

Only 8:47 into the game, junior midfielder Cristian Araujo (Miami, Fla.) converted a shot in the box off the pass by Pablo Bravo Olle (Barcelona, Spain) to put Manhattanville on top, 1-0. The Valiants took a 2-0 lead on a penalty kick goal by freshman midfielder Dylan Akay (Newton, Penn.) in the 37th minute of action. Less than two minutes later, a Tom Skinner (Fleet, UK) score off the feed from Nick Williams (Wexford, Penn.) gave Manhattanville a three-goal advantage. The games final goal came in the 39th minute on a shot by freshman midfielder Daniel Lombardo (Shirley, N.Y.). Manhattanville scored three goals in a span of 2:38 late in the first half to take a 4-0 lead into the break.

In a scoreless second half, the Valiants held a 7-4 shot advantage over the Rams.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Old Westbury for their Skyline Conference opener on Saturday, September 22nd at noon.
