Farmingdale, N.Y. - With 41 seconds left in the second overtime, FSC senior midfielder Alec Chapoteau (Wantagh, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal to lead the Farmingdale State men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over John Jay this afternoon. With the win, FSC improved to 3-2, while the Bloodhounds fell to 1-4.

At 26:59 of the first half, Rams senior defender James Barrett (Wantagh, N.Y.) dribbled the ball down the field before passing it off to junior midfielder Brayan Cruz (Levittown, N.Y.). Barrett would receive the ball right back and would hit the post on a shot attempt. John Jay sophomore goalkeeper Steven Towler (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) maintained the rebound as the game remained scoreless.

The Bloodhounds outshot Farmingdale State, 7-6, in the first half.

With just 20 seconds left in regulation, John Jay freshman forward Joey Licciardi (Ridge, N.Y.) corralled a loose ball in the box but shot it wide as the game headed into overtime tied, 0-0.

In the first OT, Rams senior goalkeeper Scott Flores (Commack, N.Y.) stopped the only shot on goal to send the game to double overtime.

In the 106th minute of the contest, an FSC foul set up a Bloodhound free-kick. John Jay sophomore forward Mark Shnadshteyn (Richmond, N.Y.) would get off a shot on goal but Flores made the save to keep the game scoreless.

At 109:19, Chapoteau would receive a through-pass from sophomore midfielder Matthew Siebel (Staten Island, N.Y.), draw the goalie to the left and bury the shot to the right post to secure the 1-0 non-conference win.

Flores tallied eight saves in the shutout, while Towler finished with seven.

Farmingdale State next heads to Manhattanville College for a non-conference game on Wednesday, September 19th at 4:00 p.m.
