
Farmingdale State - 2, Hunter - 1
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team played host to Hunter College in a non-conference game this afternoon and earned a 2-1 victory. The Rams now stand at 2-2 on the year, while the Hawks dropped to 1-4.
In the 12th minute of action, Hunter freshman forward Blaise Enama (Roosevelt Island, N.Y.) secured his own rebound on a shot attempt and netted the unassisted goal to put the Hawks out in front, 1-0. After a lightning delay with just over 20 minutes left to play in the first half, the Rams tied the game in the 32nd minute after sophomore Kyle Darden (Floral Park, N.Y.) scored from 10 yards out off the midfield pass by senior defender Kyle Gully (North Babylon, N.Y.). The game went into the break tied 1-1 as Hunter held a 5-3 shot advantage over Farmingdale State.
With 30:14 remaining, FSC took a 2-1 advantage on a score by senior midfielder William Grajales (Cali, Colombia) as sophomore midfielder Alex Castano (Valley Stream, N.Y.) notched the assist.
After taking the lead, the Rams held the Hawks to four shots but only one on goal en route to the 2-1 victory.
In goal, FSC senior Scott Flores (Commack, N.Y.) tallied six saves, while sophomore Noah Dougherty (Bovina Center, N.Y.) didn't record a save for the Hawks.
Farmingdale State next will host John Jay for a non-conference game on Saturday, September 15th at 11:00 a.m.
