Rams Shutout Brooklyn College in Home Opener

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team earned a 3-0 non-conference victory over Brooklyn College in their home opener this afternoon. The Rams improved to 1-1 on the year, while the Bulldogs dropped to 0-3.

In the 31st minute of action, FSC broke the scoreless tie on an unassisted goal from sophomore midfielder Alex Castano (Valley Stream, N.Y.). The Rams controlled the first half and took the 1-0 advantage into the break after out shooting Brooklyn 11-3 and holding a 4-1 corner kick advantage.

Only 2:40 into the second half, FSC went out in front 2-0 after junior defender Michael Gino (Wantagh, N.Y.) connected on the rebound off junior midfielder Giovanni Lonetti's (Levittown, N.Y.) shot in front. The Rams increased the advantage to 3-0 in the 63rd minute on the goal by sophomore forward Kyle Darden (Floral Park, N.Y.) as senior defender Kyle Gully (North Babylon, N.Y.) notched the assist. FSC held the Bulldogs to three shots and no goals over the final 27:55 to cap off the 3-0 shutout victory.

Farmingdale State senior goalkeeper Scott Flores (Commack, N.Y.) tallied seven saves and recorded his first career shutout.

The Rams next will host FDU-Florham in a non-conference game on Saturday, September 8th at noon.
