Farmingdale, N.Y. - In a non-conference men's soccer matchup this afternoon, Farmingdale State finished the game with four unanswered goals en route to a 4-1 victory over The College of New Rochelle. With the win, FSC improves to 7-6 overall, while the Blue Angels fell to 4-6-1.
After a scoreless first half in which the shot total was even at five apiece, New Rochelle took the lead in the 54th minute on a score by freshman defender Xavier Rubio (Phoenix, AZ). Only 4:16 later, FSC tied the game on a Thomas Hamel (Farmingdale, N.Y.) goal to the bottom left corner of the net off the cross in front from senior midfielder John Kender (Farmingdale, N.Y.). The Rams took their first lead of the game, 2-1, on a Luciano Staffa (Buenos Aires, Argentina) header off Kender's corner kick in the 70th minute of action.
Farmingdale State added late scores by Staffa and Hamel to cap off the 4-1 victory.
Hamel finished with a career-high five points on two goals and one assist, while Staffa tallied four points on a pair of goals.
FSC next will travel to #15 Amherst College for a non-conference game on Sunday, October 22nd at 11:00 a.m.
