Ridgefield Park, N.J. - Senior defender Gerard Farrell (Floral Park, N.Y.) led the Farmingdale State men's soccer team to a 5-1 Skyline Conference victory over Yeshiva University on Thursday evening, tallying five points on two goals and one assist. FSC improves to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Rams freshman defender Luis Steven Vasquez (Bay Shore, N.Y.) gave Farmingdale State an early 1-0 advantage as he recorded a goal from 15 yards out off the feed from junior midfielder Christian Campos (Huntington Station, N.Y.) in the 11th minute.
After the Maccabees (3-5, 0-5) tied the game in the 24th minute, Farrell produced his first points of the game on an unassisted goal to regain the FSC lead, 2-1.
The Rams outshot Yeshiva 14-4 in the first half.
Farrell tallied his second goal of the game at 65:28 as he forced a turnover and scored on a breakaway to give FSC a two-goal advantage, 3-1.
Only 1:23 later, a scramble in the box and header by junior forward Luciano Staffa (Buenos Aires, Arg.) put Farmingdale State up 4-1.
Farrell registered his fifth and final point of the game in the 78th minute, as he set up senior midfielder John Kender (Farmingdale, N.Y.) with a through pass for the goal on the left wing.
Rams senior goalkeeper Daniel Stern (Kings Park, N.Y.) totaled six saves in the 5-1 conference victory. Campos produced two assists for FSC.
Farmingdale State next hosts St. Joseph's-Brooklyn for a conference match tomorrow, Saturday, September 30th at noon.
