Sparaglio Leads Old Westbury Past FSC in Home Opener

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team hosted Skyline Conference opponent Old Westbury in their home opener this afternoon and fell, 1-0. The Rams dropped to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play, while the Panthers improved to 4-2-1, 1-0.

In the 8th minute, OW started their possession with a Stephen Locurcio (Hicksville, N.Y.) shot that was blocked in front of the net and freshman forward Jorey Garcia (Great Neck, N.Y.) followed with a shot off the left post. On their third scoring attempt, sophomore forward Nikolas Sparaglio (Hicksville, N.Y.) tallied an unassisted goal to put Old Westbury in front, 1-0. The Panthers out shot the Rams 7-4 and took the 1-0 lead into halftime.

In a scoreless second half, FSC held a 6-1 shot advantage but were unable to find the net as they fell, 1-0.

Junior goalkeeper Mike Warren (East Meadow, N.Y.) stopped four shots in the victory for Old Westbury.

Farmingdale State next will play host to Medgar Evers in a non-conference matchup on Monday, September 25th at 4:00 p.m.
