John Jay - 3, Farmingdale State - 0

New York, N.Y. - In a non-conference men's soccer game this afternoon at Randall's Island Park in New York City, Farmingdale State fell, 3-0, to John Jay College. The Rams now stand at 1-1 on the season, while the Bloodhounds earned a season-opening victory and are 1-0.

John Jay opened the scoring only seven minutes into the game as senior midfielder Alexis Bustillo (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) sent a pass that led to a breakaway for freshman forward Mark Shnadshteyn (Richmond, N.Y.) who buried the goal.

The Bloodhounds second and third goals came in the 23rd and 26th minutes as Bustillo and Shnadshteyn each reached a loose ball in the box for the shot and goal. FSC tallied six corner kicks and five shots in the first half.

After the break, the Rams outshot John Jay 14-4, but was unable to send one past Bloodhounds senior goalkeeper Alexandros Taliotis (Limassol, Cyprus) who made nine saves in the shutout.

Bustillo recorded three points with his assist and goal, while Shnadshteyn totaled four points on his two goals.

FSC next travels to play non-conference opponent Brooklyn College on Wednesday, September 6th at 4:00 p.m.
