Quick Start Leads Rams Past St. Joe's-Brooklyn

Farmingdale State - 3, St. Joseph's-Brooklyn - 1


Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team scored three goals in the first half en route to the 3-1 Skyline Conference victory over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn last night. The Rams improved to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Bears dropped to 3-4, 2-1.

FSC struck first in the 20th minute on a goal by Christian Campos (Huntington Station, N.Y.) from the top of the box off the feed from Wilson Martinez (Huntington Station, N.Y.). Only 8:31 later, an unassisted score by junior midfielder John Kender (Farmingdale, N.Y.) gave the Rams a 2-0 edge. With 14:46 left to play in the first half, Farmingdale State increased the lead to 3-0 with a Carlos Rivera-Ronquillo (Huntington Station, N.Y.) goal. The Rams took the 3-0 advantage into the halftime break.

St. Joe's-Brooklyn scored the only goal of the second half in the 69th minute as Farmingdale State earned the 3-1 Skyline victory.

FSC junior goalkeeper Jeff Valencia (Levittown, N.Y.) tallied five saves in the win.

The Rams next will travel to Sage for a conference matchup on Saturday, September 24th at 1:00 p.m.
