Kean Defeats Rams to Win Cialella Classic

Camden, N.J. - Kean University defeated Farmingdale State, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon to claim the title at the Cialella Soccer Classic hosted by Rutgers-Camden. The FSC men's soccer team dropped to 1-4 on the season after the loss.

Kean (5-1) sophomore midfielder Mateo Castro Arias (Bogota, Colombia) scored the first goal of the game in the 35th minute with an 18-yard shot to the top left center of the net, giving the Cougars an early 1-0 advantage. Kean outshot the Rams 21-2 in the first half as they took a 1-0 lead into the break.

With 27:51 remaining, Kean increased the lead to 2-0 on a Sev Kherlopian (Bradley Beach, N.J.) score off the pass from Kazari Trought (West Orange, N.J.) The Cougars would tack on two more goals over the final minutes to cap off the 4-0 victory.

Farmingdale State sophomore goalkeeper Lucas Mallia (Greenlawn, N.Y.) tallied 14 saves for the Rams.

FSC junior midfielder Tobi Ojuade (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Wilson Martinez (Huntington Station, N.Y.) were each named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Rams next will play host to Baruch in a non-conference game on Wednesday, September 14th at 6:30 p.m.
