Farmingdale, N.Y. - In the First Round of the Skyline Conference men's soccer playoffs, #3 Farmingdale State earned a 2-0 victory over sixth-seeded Yeshiva University. The Rams improved to 10-8-1 and advance to the Skyline Conference Semifinals.
Tied 0-0 with 11:25 remaining in the first half, Farmingdale State senior midfielder Victor Romero (Bay Shore, N.Y.) nearly put the Rams ahead with a shot from 15 yards out but a diving one handed stop by Yeshiva's Maor Feinstein (Gold Coast, Australia) kept the game scoreless.
The Rams out shot the Maccabees (7-8-2) 8-1 in the half as the game headed to the break tied 0-0.
FSC struck first with 34:00 remaining in the second half on a header from sophomore midfielder John Kender (Farmingdale, N.Y.) off Anthony Leonick's (Levittown, N.Y.) throw-in.
Only 7:13 later, Kender sent a pass through the defense to set up senior midfielder J.T. Famularo (Levittown, N.Y.) for the score and a 2-0 Farmingdale State advantage.
The Rams held the Maccabees scoreless the remainder of the way as they earned the 2-0 First Round win.
Kender finished with a game-high three points on a goal and an assist.
Farmingdale State advances to the Semifinals and will travel to #2 St. Joseph's-LI on Wednesday, November 4th.
